APMEA, the Asia Pacific Marine Ecosystem Alliance, is a youth-led NGO focused on media creation and dissemination, with a specific focus on marine systems and global warming of the Asia Pacific region. Through a variety of multimedia platforms, we produce content that highlights the challenges facing our oceans, including pollution, habitat destruction, and the effects of climate change. Our goal is to inform, educate, and empower individuals to take meaningful action to protect marine ecosystems.
APMEA is composed predominantly of high school students passionate about marine conservation and environmental advocacy. Our members come from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, united by a shared commitment to protecting our oceans. While our core membership is located in the Asia Pacific region, we welcome participants from around the world who share our vision and values.
APMEA emerged from a collective concern for the deteriorating health of our marine ecosystems amidst the pressing issue of global warming. We recognize the urgent need to raise awareness about the impacts of climate change on our oceans and to advocate for sustainable solutions. Via media advocacy, we aim to inspire action and foster a community of proactive individuals dedicated to preserving our precious marine environments, furthermore coming out of creative solutions.
Our group was founded in December, 2023. It started with students from Korea, and we are expanding to various countries starting from February, 2024.
While our focus is on the Asia Pacific region, our reach extends globally. Our members hail from various countries, including Guam, the USA, China, Korea, Japan, and beyond. We leverage our diverse backgrounds and perspectives to tackle marine conservation challenges on a regional and global scale.
We engage in a variety of activities to fulfill our mission, including researching and writing articles, creating multimedia content, organizing events and workshops, and collaborating with other like-minded organizations. Through strategic partnerships and grassroots efforts, we aim to amplify our message and effect positive change in marine conservation efforts and energy solutions that are crucial for stopping global warming.
